Perseverance

Someone I know of has a pretty great quote that I felt was appropriate. "Never Give Up, Never Surrender!!! If you think you can’t, then you must, and if you must, then you can”. So yes it is it is TR's (yes the big guy) quote and the #1 reason people don’t get what they want in life is because they give up too soon. I just made up that #1 stat as I am writing my monthly newsletter but I bet you that I am not too far off from real life.

Most people probably have given up on some things before, such as: - The first sport you tried you were not very good – so you quit. - Your first romantic crush did say hello to you – so you gave up. - You did not get the first job you wanted – so you gave up trying. - The first business you started failed – so you gave up. - The first time you started exercising, you puked – so you gave up. - And the list could go on…

It could be anything, but chances are whatever it was, it boiled down to this: you didn’t get what you wanted right away so you gave up or quit. STOP GIVING UP! Perseverance, next to determination, is the most important skill any successful person can have.

Consider it your personal skill, your character trait, your mantra, your mojo, or your life mission. Whatever you want to call it, know what you want and go for it. Same thing holds true for all you as you set your results coaching goal. And remember that you must stay focused and you must know that anything worth having is not going to be easy.

So here are my Top 7 Reasons to Persevere:

1- As Long As You Are Alive Anything Is Possible The only valid excuse you have to give up is if you are dead. As long as you are alive (and healthy and free) you have the choice to keep trying until you finally succeed.

2- Be Realistic The chance of mastering something the first time you do it is almost non-existent. Tony says that repetition is the mother of all skill-work at it! Check out famous failures.

3- Respect Yourself You don’t want to be known as someone that is weak and gives up! The only time you fail is when you give up.

4- Believe In Your Dreams Walt Disney said “If you can dream it, you can do it”. Don’t let anyone destroy your dreams.

5- Your Family and Friends Let the people you love and who mean the world to you be your inspiration to persist and persevere. You don’t want them to be disappointed in you…ohhh the guilt is setting in!

6- Because Michelle Said So!! As your personal coach, I am totally committed to you helping you achieve your goals. I am your personal advocate. But if I am working harder on you than you-there will be a problem!!

7- You Are Closer Than You Think (I see this often) Oh so often when you feel like you want to give up and you are about to quit, know you are so close to making a huge break-through if you just hang on and persevere.
