The 'Confidence Adventure'
Oh yes, I do love this song! “I used to hold my freak back, Now I'm letting go, I make my own choice, Yeah I run this show.” Demi Lovato wrote the song as well and stated that the ‘Confident’ song was really the best way to represent her today and that she feels very secure in who she is as an artist and a person. Wouldn’t everyone want this in their life? This isn’t just for the Hollywood elite. What about us? What about you?
What if YOU…
Discovered the confidence you bring to each new day.
Know who you are, and you are proud of who you are.
Owned your unique sexuality
Identified confidence comes through in every aspect of your life making you completely irresistible.
Embraced new crazy adventures with an enthusiastic “Hell Yes”
In other words…Don’t we all want to be a BADASS! That’s where I come in! Here are 5 steps to self-confidence, for which we’ll use the metaphor of an adventure by preparing for your adventure; celebrating yourself, setting small goals, getting some wins, and building that confident bad-ass we all secretly want to be.
1-Getting Ready
The first step involves getting yourself ready for your adventure to self-confidence. You need to evaluate where you are, think about where you want to be, get yourself in the right mindset for your adventure, and commit yourself to starting it and staying with it.
2-Self Celebration
Think about your life so far, and list the best things you've achieved so far. Think about your wins no matter how small. Put these into a list, which you can look at often. I hang stuff like this all over the house. Incantations, mantras, accomplishments, you name it, I have it posted everywhere. Spend a few minutes each day enjoying the success you’ve already accomplished!
3-Celebrate Your Strengths
Take a look at who and where you are. Make sure that you enjoy a few minutes reflecting on your strengths! Ever do a SWOT Analysis on yourself? Check it out!
Strengths
What do you do well?
What unique resources can you draw on?
What do others see as your strengths?
Weaknesses
What could you improve?
Where do you have fewer resources than others?
What are others likely to see as weaknesses?
Opportunities
What opportunities are open to you?
What trends could you take advantage of?
How can you turn your strengths into opportunities?
Threats
What threats could harm you?
What is your competition doing?
What threats do your weaknesses expose you to?
4-Goals and Wins
Think about the things that are really important to you, and what you want to achieve with your life. Setting and achieving goals is a key part of this, and real confidence comes from this. Goal setting is the process you use to set yourself targets, and measure your successful hitting of those targets. Set goals that exploit your strengths, minimize your weaknesses, and realize your opportunities. Starting with the very small goals and get in the habit of setting them, achieving them, and celebrating that achievement.
MUY IMPORTANTE: Don’t make crazy goals at this stage, just get into the habit of achieving them and celebrating them is what is called pretty massive action.
5-Managing your State
We talked about this in my last newsletter. Remember the book is titled, ‘Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck’ which is about positivity and that improving our lives hinges not on our ability to turn lemons into lemonade, but on learning to stomach lemons better. Learning to start managing your mind as well as learning to pick up and defeat the negative self-talks which can destroy your confidence is an everyday challenge that you can overcome.
Bottom line is that goal setting is arguably the most important skill you can learn to improve your self-confidence. As long as you keep on pushing yourself enough, but not too much, you'll find your self-confidence building. Your mojo!! What's more, you'll have earned your self-confidence from this adventure. You put in the hard work to be successful and self-confident! And….There is nothing wrong with being confident!
